Fortunately, the East Bay Area has pretty great weather! Of course, while I can’t predict the weather on your photoshoot day, it’s typically decently warm and sunny most months out of the year. So, what if the weather isn’t hot and sunny? I promise I have you covered!
The overcast photoshoot
I LOVE overcast days during a family or maternity photoshoot. Please do not shy away from your scheduled shoot because it’s overcast. Some of my favorite sessions have been on days when the clouds are fierce and gray. Heavy cloud coverage adds a nice dramatic touch to your photos, which I love so dearly! If your session lands on a heavy overcast day, I will reach out to you and schedule your photoshoot 30 minutes earlier because it gets dark fast! So, if you’re worried about there not being blue skies ahead, trust me, we will work our magic together and get you your dream photos. The windy photoshoot
My goodness, how I love a good windy day! The wind is perfect for capturing some fierce and dramatic shots full of passion and love! Unless the winds are extreme, I do not reschedule photoshoots for that specific reason. A windy day can truly make your session magical and fun. If you’re a mama who wants to wear a long, flowy dress during your photoshoot, the wind will add so much beautiful movement to your dress and images. What about your hair? It might get a bit cray-cray, but we will roll with it and capture your beautiful connection with your family. If your session lands on a windy day, I will reach out and make sure your kids are bundled up, and I always bring extra blankets, just in case your littles get cold! The rainy day
If it’s raining close to the time of your session, this calls for rescheduling your shoot! I always reach out to my clients a couple hours before their session if the forecast doesn’t look promising during their session time. I do my absolute best to reschedule my clients within the next two weeks. I never want to leave anyone hanging, and I always get them rescheduled asap!Let’s tie it together
If your session lands on a windy or overcast day, I promise it will still be fun and the photos will look AMAZING! The most important thing to note is to dress extra warm if it’s cold and windy. A cold photoshoot day calls for extra blankets and some beautiful, textured knitted sweaters for the family. If your children are cold and not dressed appropriately during your photoshoot, it’s never a great outcome. I cannot stress this enough: Please dress your kids in warm attire if it’s chilly outside. I want you and your kids happy during your photoshoot—it’s what we want to capture in the photos! So, dressing well creates a more fun vibe during your session, and once you see the happy faces in the photos, you’ll thank me later!Let’s look at some windy shoots:
